Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz, General of the Ten Years War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz was born in Holgu\u00edn in 1802, son of Miguel Aguilera and Juana de la Cruz Gonz\u00e1lez. In 1824 he married Isabel Mar\u00eda de la Cruz Serrano who was born in 1807. Mr. Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz, served as Ordinary Mayor of Holguin from 1841 to 1845, was Attorney General Trustee in 1846 and Interim Titular Advisor of the Government Tenure in Holguin, in 1852.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the War broke out in 1868, Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz abandoned his property and dignities and was named President of the Revolutionary Junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among his children, Miguel Jos\u00e9 Delfin Aguilera de la Cruz (1826) and Jos\u00e9 Antonio Justo Aguilera de la Cruz (1829).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz was taken prisoner in \u201clos Alfonsos\u201d of the Municipality of Puerto Padre, where it is said he could have been captured because when he was surrounded he found himself without his boots, taking the time to put them on, with all the dignity of a General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jose Justo Aguilera de La Cruz was taken to the town of \u201cAuras\u201d where he was shot on April 4, 1869 at the age of 67, along with his brothers Luis and Jos\u00e9 Antonio; In the place where he fell, a monolith stands in his honor. In Holguin, Aguilera Street (formerly Numancia and then Calvario) was named, which runs from east to west of the City of Holguin, in memory of his sacrifice.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
