Los Lanzeros Mayariceros was created by Jesús Torres (Chucho), a member of the Munenes family in the municipality of Mayarí in the province of Holguin in Cuba. It was started approximately in 1912. This family took it for fun, it is considered a dance and courtship, a ballroom dance.
The music that accompanies Los Lanzeros Mayariceros was performed by the family themselves, accompanied by trumpets, clarinets, drums, saxophones and others: it was performed on weekends and at family parties, being danced in the patios of their houses and on the sports field. from Mayari, province of Holguin. It stopped being danced between 1933 and 1934.
